BRL Spring Break / What's up, dudes?

So BRL is on "spring break" right now where we're playing less shows and writing a ton of new songs. The result? A bunch of new songs. A comprehensive list of said songs would look something like this:

1. World Leaders
2. The Ultimate Yes
3. Tender Colors
4. The Gift of Rediscovery
5. Culture of Nemesis
6. Outstanding Conditions
7. Tawdry Safari
8. The Tollbooth
9. Actualism
10. Neoism
11. Small Regrets

Now, guess which name on that list is fake.

Anyway, to update everyone on the happs and in the spirit on making brilliantredlights.com our main blog/website, I've compiled a "what we've been up to" guide.

Much love,

~Evan

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Like I said, we've spent a ton of time at our practice space. The best part has to be either the blacklight OUT KAST poster or the giant scientific poster right next to it about the Atmosphere that I stole from a UC Davis science building.

Me and Aaron live together in downtown Sacramento. This is a blurry picture from the outside balcony. Springman Records himself, Mr. Avi Ehrlich, lives in the pink building on the far right (after graduating from our couch).
This is my room.
This is Aaron's room.
This is our governor giving a speech in front of the Capitol (2 blocks from my work, 1 block from Aaron's work). Don't worry, he is still using his movie quotes in his speeches. Aaron's co-worker Chad plays a game called "shoot Chad's mom", where he tries to shoot a rubber band into his mom's (mail)box.
We went to see LIGHTNING BOLT in Oakland and Aaron's afro hung out with Max from Tenebre.
Pretty much looks like some Texas Chainsaw Massacre shit.
Total anarchy.
The guy in the middle wearing glasses looks like what would happen if me and Noah had a kid.
Aaron getting his creepy stare on.
It was seriously one of the craziest shows I've ever seen. Best Monday night ever

We saw the AUDRYE SESSIONS play at UC Davis at the on-campus pub (which I never knew existed after going there for 4 years). Don't worry, they were almost sober.

Aaron's been wearing these sunglasses constantly. Even indoors at 11 PM at a Chinese restaurant. Look at how much Noah despises the decision.
If you look closely, you'll see that this guy was in fact driving around with a video camera and tripod in his passenger seat. So yes, he was driving around and filming you in your car like a pervert.
Most offensive sticker, possibly ever.
Most offensive magazine advertisement, possibly ever.
We drove to Stockton to see BRL's official merch girl/vanity photographer ARIEL and her roller derby team. This picture was taken 8 seconds before a girl that could easily out arm-wrestle me annihilated her.
The guy who looks like Sean Bustos by way of "Blades of Glory"-worthy sparkly rainbow pants is her coach, And a champion competitive rollerskater.
A band played at halftime. Called ANGST. It was adorable! Notice the brand-new guitars, amps drums and banner, which would lead me to be full of Angst too.
Total highlight: drunk old guys dancing

Here is Noah sitting in our kitchen writing a letter of recommendation for one of his drum students. For Harvard. At 3 AM.

Noah's other band THE FUTURE FORCE played a fucking sweet show at the Mezzanine in SF opening for European techno careerists BOOKASHADE
And yes Noah is the lead singer. And yes that outfit is the same outfit that JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE was wearing in a Japanese tour video we youtubed a long time ago. And yes, me and Aaron did actually own http://www.myspace.com/justintimberlake for over a year until MySpace revoked it. We used it as the MySpace page for COMPASSION IN ACTION, the ultimate side project.

And yes there were in fact 3 drumsets on stage. Like I said, this shit was off the hook

The infamous "4 cowbell part"

When we were in LA a couple of weeks ago, we called up CHUCK SPANO, who produced our "Numb Songs" music video. He told us to come by a video he was working on, which turned our to be a MANDY MOORE VIDEO SHOOT.

Pretending like it was our music video when the crew breaks for lunch.
And then enjoying the catering, courtesy of Mandy's label. I shit you not, there was swordfish. And some old guy sitting next to us that complained for a half an hour about how bad the swordfish was. I believe he compared it to "sweaty gym socks".
Afterwards, we played with FACING NEW YORK, who have a 2 drummer thing going on right now

This is where I went on vacation with my girlfriend.

BRL song sesh in the car. Don't worry, we only know:

-DASHBOARD CONFESSIONAL - "Vindicated"

-JENNY LEWIS - "Rise Up With Fists"

-FOO FIGHTERS - "Everlong"

-and a couple of BRIGHT EYES songs

This was a party at Springman Avi's parents house that had a wizard band for reals.
Called Pablo a couple of times.
This is me and Aaron recording "robot compliments" onto my computer.
This is the Greenbelt that runs behind our old apartment in Davis. "Touch Like You Want It" was basically conceived here.
Hanging out with the AUDRYE SESSIONS backstage.
Hanging out at KCSC in Chico.
Hanging out in the UC Berkeley cuad, where I once saw THE BLOOD BROTHERS.
Learning (courtesy of Bryce from STREET TO NOWHERE aka STNR) that I want his bass hella bad.

Unloading the van always suck when you get back at 4 AM. This is one of the rare times Aaron is actually helping *burn*.

Aaron mugging in front of BUSTA RHYMES' tour bus. Flipmode!
I went to go see TERA MELOS play in a San Jose record store.

And of course, who could forget this gem, where we watched this crazy dude hop a barbed-wire fence in San Francisco because he was missing TERA MELOS.

Nice move.

Come back soon for more inane commentary and whatever else pops into our heads.
